FAQ
Is GenPy free?
Yes. GenPy's core features are free to use. The free plan includes 500MB of storage and starter AI access. Paid plans include Pro ($25/month), Max ($100/month), and Business plans through sales.
Is my data safe?
For cloud projects, your work is stored with backups in managed online storage. If you use the desktop app, your files stay on your own computer under your control.
How large can projects be?
You can upload existing projects as .zip files up to 80MB. There is no hard limit on how many script files your project can contain.
Can multiple people collaborate?
Yes. Team projects support shared access with roles for owner, editor, and viewer. That makes it easier to divide writing, editing, and review work across a team.
Which browsers are supported?
GenPy works in modern versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. For the best experience, use a desktop browser.
How do I report issues?
Use the Feedback button inside the workspace. That is the fastest way to send bug reports, suggestions, and product feedback.
Can exported projects run in the game engine?
Yes. GenPy exports a standard game project structure. After export, you can open and run the project in the game engine like any other project.
What's the AI assistant?
The AI assistant is a built-in creative partner that understands your project. You can use it to brainstorm ideas, rewrite scenes, answer questions, and in many cases edit files directly for you.
What's the difference between VN Player and desktop preview?
VN Player is the fast preview tool inside the editor for checking flow, dialogue, and choices while you work. Desktop preview is for a fuller engine runtime check on your own machine.
What is Story Flow?
Story Flow is GenPy's visual routing view for branching narratives. It helps you understand where choices lead, how scenes connect, and where your story may need more structure.
How do I use plugins?
Open Tools mode, then open the Plugins panel to browse and install available plugins. If you want to build your own, use Plugin Forge.
Where should beginners start?
Start in Write mode, use the AI assistant when you get stuck, and explore a demo project before building something large. That gives you a quick feel for how scenes, characters, and assets work together.
What login methods are available?
You can sign in with email, Google, GitHub, or Apple. Choose whichever option is most convenient for your workflow.
INFO
If you're deciding between cloud and desktop, start with cloud for convenience and use the desktop app when you want offline work or local runtime preview.
