Plugin System

The Plugin System lets you expand what GenPy can do. You can install community or built-in plugins, turn them on or off, and even create your own tools with Plugin Forge.

Plugin Hub

The Plugin Hub is where you browse and manage plugins. From one place, you can:

  • Read descriptions and feature summaries
  • Install or uninstall plugins with one click
  • Enable or disable plugins as your project changes
  • Check whether a plugin is compatible with your current setup

What Plugins Can Add

Plugins can extend GenPy in several useful ways:

  • New step types in the Performance Editor
  • Custom text tags in Story View
  • Additional files included during export
  • New panels, helpers, and workspace tools

INFO

Plugins are helpful when you want GenPy to better match your workflow. They can add specialized features without changing the rest of your project setup.

Plugin Forge

Plugin Forge is GenPy's built-in space for creating your own plugins. It includes a real-time preview and testing workflow so you can try ideas as you build them.

Managing Plugins

A good plugin workflow is simple:

  1. Open the Plugin Hub.
  2. Browse available plugins and read what they do.
  3. Install the ones you want to try.
  4. Enable or disable them as needed.
  5. Review compatibility notes if a plugin affects your current tools.

When to Use Plugins

  • You want extra writing or workflow tools.
  • You need more specialized export behavior.
  • You want to extend the Performance Editor or Story View.
  • You have a custom process and want GenPy to support it more directly.

TIP

Check the Plugin Hub regularly for new additions. If you want to build your own, Plugin Forge includes templates that make it easier to get started.

Practical Tips

  • Install one new plugin at a time so you can see what changed.
  • Disable anything you are not actively using to keep your workspace tidy.
  • Read the description before installing so you know where the plugin appears.
  • Use Plugin Forge to test small ideas before turning them into bigger tools.
